The historic Columbia Theatre has been newly-renovated, reclaiming its position as the prime jewel in the crown of the Royal City. Built in 1927 by Famous Players, the Columbia Theatre was the centrepiece of New Westminster's bustling Columbia Street strip. Today The Columbia has two superb venues, available to rent for your event. The main theatre has become the Grand Room, a cabaret-style facility with group seating on four levels, ideal for corporate, community and entertainment events. The Baby Grand Room is a large but intimate venue which is perfect for corporate functions and wedding receptions. The Columbia has been completely renovated, from the warm and inviting lobby area to the elegant and spacious event showrooms. Full kitchens and serving facilities have been installed to host dining events in both The Grand Room and The Baby Grand Room. The street level exterior has been redone, with replicas of the original Moorish columns recast from existing pieces and marquee signage facing both up and down Columbia Street announcing the current events and attractions. The Columbia is, once again, open for business. The Columbia Street community is once again thriving, with the new River Market, the Waterfront Pier Park, Plaza 88 and soon, a new world-class Multi Use Civic Facility.
