Extensive renovations have been carried out on the historic building which was built by Famous Players as the Columbia Theatre in 1927.

The City of New Westminster officially designated the site as a heritage property, and care has been taken to preserve, restore, and in some cases reconstruct the original designs. As building technology and construction codes have changed over the years, considerable upgrades were been required in many areas.

The Grand Room, originally the actual Famous Players movie and burlesque theatre, now features cabaret seating on four levels to facilitate dinner shows and events.

The stage has been returned to its original position and the decorative latticework and carved gold designs on either side have been retained and refinished.

Hundreds of hours of painstaking work were involved in the careful removal of several layers of paint to reveal a section of the original "atmospheric" murals on the walls
of the original theatre.
